If you’ve spent any time on language-learning YouTube, you’ve probably encountered a guy named Xiaoma. If you don’t recognize that name, you’ve likely still seen the YouTube videos titled something like “White Boy STUNS Chinese People By Ordering in Perfect Cantonese!!” or “White Kid Does Perfect Jamaican Patois and Doesn’t Get Canceled!!” (He really did this second one, by the way.)

Spend enough time in the language learning community, and you’ll discover how controversial this guy — and videos like his in general — really are. He captures clicks by saying things like, “I learned this language in three days!,” even though anyone with a whiff of language learning experience will tell you that doing so is impossible. Not “difficult,” like, literally impossible. But hey, no one’s fact checking on YouTube!

To make a point about language, the YouTuber recently gave a speech in which he spoke almost entirely in Generation-Alpha slang. While his point was conveyed in the first 20 seconds or so, he decided to continue, turning the whole speech into a massive cringe fest.
